Choreographed by Miguel Perez, this duet for two married dancers intertwined the two bodies in a simultaneous expression of power and gentleness.
The lighting focused conceptually on bird-flight - the perpetual dissipation and reformation of flocks of starlings. The grace of the dancers mimicked that of tiny birds in flight and their revolution around each other, even when apart, mandated that the lighting reflect the connection between the two bodies. The light created the breath of the day - a long inhale leading inevitably toward a quickening exhale – in which the dancers moved.
The piece premiered in Conflux Dance Theater’s 3rd concert, Synergy, in June 2024, at Grace Street Theater in Richmond, Virginia.
